Are you ready to tell the world about the best place in Denver to bite into a burrito or knock back a bowl of pho? Now's your chance: We opened voting for the Best of Denver 2015, our annual celebration of the city, on Wednesday. You can now vote online in the Best of Denver Readers' Poll to let us know both your old favorites and new finds in more than eighty food and drink categories.

Also in Cafe Society this week, Gretchen Kurtz bee-bim-bhopped her way through the menu at the new Colorado Boulevard outpost of Dae Gee Korean BBQ, and Mark Antonation got lost in Louisville before finding Salvadoran salvation at the Pupusas trailer.

Craft brewery openings have slowed down from the breakneck pace of last year, but one new brewhouse and tap room, Nighthawk Brewery in Broomfield, started pouring its first beers today, while beer man Jonathan Shikes told us about Sleeping Giant Brewing Company, a production brewery set to begin contract brewing for a wide range of other beer companies this month. Sleeping Giant won't have a tap room, but instead will be pumping out more suds for Denver drinkers to help regional brewers keep up with demand. In other news:

OPENING THIS WEEK* Nighthawk Brewery, 2780 Industrial Lane, Broomfield Park Burger RiNo, 2601 Walnut Street Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, 2907 Huron Street

TEMPORARILY CLOSING THIS WEEK* Cucina Colore, (remodel and expansion), 3041 East Third Avenue

CLOSING THIS WEEK* Paris on the Platte Cafe & Bar, 1553 Platte Street Red Coral Chinese Restaurant (Sunday), 1591 South Colorado Boulevard Zanitas Mexican & Margaritas, 6365 East Hampden Avenue

*Or earlier, and not noted in a previous Second Helping.

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Denver with no paywalls.
