Support the independent voice of Denver and help keep the future of Westword free.

Want a taste of the town's best restaurants? We're whetting your appetite by publishing our Best of Denver 2009 Readers' Poll earlier than ever -- in this week's paper and right here online.

What's the best new restaurant in town? In the Best of Denver 2008, Izakaya Den took that honor. But a host of new places have opened in the past twelve months, including the Berkshire, Beatrice & Woodsley, Delite, Bistro One, Indulge, Brasserie Felix, Lala's, Farro, Marco's Coal-Fired Pizzeria, Twelverestaurant, Root Down, Venue, Shazz, Tocabe and, at the stroke of midnight, Frank Bonanno's Bones.

The Best of Denver 2009 itself won't appear until March 26, so that gives you plenty of time to recall your favorites -- and start sampling restaurants you didn't get to in 2008.

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Denver with no paywalls.
