Chances puts a beat down for its birthday this weekend

Chances is celebrating its first-year anniversary with a three-day bash that starts tonight and ends on Saturday. The festivities will include fifteen-plus DJs providing bass-thumping tunes well into the night, along with free food and drinks until they run out.

"It's been a great year, and getting better and better," says owner Mike Villano, a former member of the band Chaos Theory. "It's been really cool to get such a great response, even though we're out of bounds."

Since opening last year in the space previously occupied by Wolfie's, Chances has evolved from a sports bar to an upscale grill that's become a new hotspot for spinsters in the Denver club scene.

This birthday weekend, the beats will begin at 7 p.m. each night and will resonant until close.

Support the independent voice of Denver and help keep the future of Westword free.

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
