Q: Do you have any suggestions for a special dinner in the Vail/Beaver Creek/Edwards area? We've already done Sweet Basil, the Bristol at Arrowhead, Zino's, Larkspur and Mirabelle. So we're willing to pay the Vail Valley price of admission.
A: The restaurants you mention are definitely among the best, but a few others in the area offer remarkable food (usually at a remarkable price). I like Grouse Mountain Grill in Pines Lodge at the Beaver Creek Resort (141 Scott Hill Road, 1-970-949-0600), which does upscale New American. I also enjoy the meals at the Tuscan-themed La Botegga (100 East Meadow Drive, Vail, 1-970-476-0280). For French food, you can't beat Left Bank (183 Gore Creek Drive, Vail, 1-970-476-3696), and for really innovative fare, try the Wildflower in the Lodge at Vail (174 East Gore Creek Road, 1-970-476-5011), whose gorgeous setting matches its beautiful meals.
