Odell Brewing will release Pond Hopper Double Extra Pale Ale, a new collaboration brewed in conjunction with Thornbridge Brewery in the United Kingdom, sometime this week in 750 ml bottles. The project took root in 2008 after Odell co-owner Doug Odell visited the brewery; he returned in 2010 to brew Colorado Red, a beer similar to Odell's Red Ale, which was released in England. Then, in February 2012, Thornbridge head brewer Caolan Vaughan came to Fort Collins to brew Pond Hopper with the Odell crew. Brewed with English malts, and American hops (plus one Australian hop in honor of Caolan's homeland), Pond Hopper is 8.9 percent ABV and debuted on draft at Odell's Small Batch Festival in late May and will appear again today at the SAVOR beer and food expo in Washington, D.C.

Oskar Blues brings back Burning Can today, the all-canned craft beer fest that the brewery first debuted in 2010 (it skipped 2011). This time, Oskar Blues has teamed up with the Lyons Outdoor Games, a celebration of outdoor sports like cycling, kayaking and fly fishing to host the event in Bohn Park in Lyons. Canned beer from 25-plus breweries will be available for sampling, along with live music, food trucks and various sporting expos, like a one-mile run and dirt-jump bike competition. Proceeds benefit the Lyons Department of Parks and Recreation and the Colorado Brewers Guild. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 the day of (get $5 off of the day-of ticket price if you ride your bike to the festival as Bicycle Longmont will be providing bike valet. TRVE Brewing will hold an open house today so that future fans can walk around the place, "pledge their oath" to the black-metal themed brewery, and try TRVE's first beer, a Belgian-American pale ale called Wanderlust. The brewery, which will officially open its doors at 4 p.m. on June 27, will also be selling some of its limited-edition growlers; buying one (for $50) makes you a one-year member of the "Growler Cvlt" and entitles you to five free fills and $7 fills thereafter.
Copper Kettle is bringing back its summer seasonals, a different one each Saturday. Today's tapping is of Return of the Czech Pilsner. June 16 is Return of the Imperial Red w/ live band; June 23 is Return of the Kolsch; and June 30 is Return of the Altbier.

Copper Kettle Brewing hosts cheese pairings on the second Thursday of every month, bring together four artisan cheeses from the Truffle Cheese Shop with four selected Copper Kettle beers (sometimes even a beer that is not out to the public yet). The Truffle also brings breads and fruit and has bulk cheese for sale afterward. Great Divide Brewing will shut down Arapahoe Street for its 18th Anniversary Party today, featuring numerous special release beers that aren't available elsewhere and four food trucks; the $25 entry ticket includes one food ticket. There will also be live music from Bonnie & The Beard, The Knew, Tin Horn Prayer and the Kentucky Street Parlor Pickers. The party runs from 2 to 6 p.m. and it will sell out.

Avery Brewing will release Oud Floris, #12 in its Barrel-Aged Series, today at 4 p.m. in the Boulder tasting room. The 9.5 percent ABV Flanders-esque dark brown sour is a blend of beer aged in cabernet, chardonnay barrels, bourbon and rum barrels. It was fermented with Saccharomyces, Lactobacillus, Pediococcus and Brettanomyces. It will be sold in twelve-ounce bottles at $8 per bottle (cash only), with a six-bottle limit; there are only 225 cases available. The previous Barrel-Aged releases were Recolte Sauvage and Muscat d' Amor.

TRVE Brewing will open its doors today at 4 p.m. The new Denver brewery has a three-barrel system, a black-metal music theme and hellaciously tasty beer. "Come in and help us fulfill our goal of having everyone at the bar windmill headbang in sync."
Saturday, June 30
Renegade Brewing will celebrate its one-year anniversary today with a party from noon to 10 p.m. and the release of its first canned beer, Ryeteous IPA. There will also be other special beers on tap, including a version of Renegade's Russian Imperial Stout, Hammer and Sickle, aged for nine months; a six-month aged version of its winter seasonal, Radiator; a four-month aged version of its Scottish Wee Heavy, Edinburgh Elixer; and a six-month whiskey barrel-aged version of Elevation triple IPA -- going by the name Elevated Wood. Renegade will have a food truck on hand as well as live music, giveaways, and a photo booth for patrons to capture their good times. The sixteen-ouince Ryeteous cans will be available for sale in the taproom and in a few liquor stores locally, with a broader launch in late July.
