Creative Culinary Couplings on Today's Calendar

A big trend in restaurant names this year has been joining two nouns with an and/ampersand, and it looks like the fad is spilling over into food events. Tonight you can indulge in two delicious culinary couplings: a whiskey and doughnut tasting, or the more traditional Corks and Forks.

At the eighth annual Corks and Forks food and wine event at the Denver Botanic Gardens, guests can enjoy food prepared by distinguished Colorado chefs, along with wine, live music and a silent auction. The evening benefits the National Sports Center for the Disabled. The fun runs from 6 to 9 p.m.; tickets are $75 for a couple or $50 for an individual. Learn more and grab your tickets here.

Whiskey and donuts: a match made in heaven or somewhere further south? Find out for yourself at Whiskey Throwdown, Donut Showdown, today at Battery 621. From 6 to 10 p.m. tonight, guests will be rolling in doughnuts, washing them down with locally distilled whiskey. Tickets are $30 at the door or $20 in advance, and will get you all the whiskey and donuts you can handle. For info and tickets, click here.
