Lisa Bailey and Keegan Gerhard have looked at several locations around town where they could put a second location of D Bar Desserts, the spot they opened on East 17th Avenue back in 2008.

And now they've decided where to put it: not in Denver but in San Diego, where they've started construction of D Bar San Diego at 3930 5th Avenue.

And when it opens sometime this spring, they won't be lonely for a taste of Colorado: The Snooze that the Schlegel brothers opened in San Diego last fall -- the sixth in an otherwise Colorado-centric chain -- is just a few feet away, at 3940 5th Street.

"We'll hopefully create a dynamic little duo," says Adam Schlegel. "Exciting times."

And how did Food Network star Keegan Gerhard wind up opening his own place in Denver, anyway? Read Jason Sheehan's 2008 cover story here.
