Support the independent voice of Denver and help keep the future of Westword free.

I am not attempting to enter the heated debate on doughnut store superiority, but rather to present a fact: free doughnuts are the best doughnuts. Today Krispy Kreme is celebrating National Doughnut Day by giving each customer a complimentary doughnut of their choice. As an employee who patiently answered my incredulous questions put it -- “no coupon, no lines, just come in and get the doughnut.” If you can’t make it to the Thornton or Lone Tree franchises by their 10 p.m. closing today, make sure you don’t miss out next year and mark your calendars for the future first Friday of June.

I imagine Winchell’s and LaMar’s might be feeling a bit lonely for the day.

Get your gratuitous glazed goodness at 1051 East 120th Avenue Thornton, CO 80233 or 7514 East Parkway Drive, Lone Tree, CO 80124.

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Denver with no paywalls.
