Keep Westword Free

Eat free at the Justice League of Street Food party: Here's how!

This Saturday, August 21, the Justice League of Street Food will gather for its inaugural party, the first in a series of bashes that will bring diners together in the true spirit of fun that surrounds the mobile vending scene. And we want to add to the fun, giving one lucky reader the chance to sample food from every truck for free.

That's free food from Cupcake Truck, Biker Jim's, Steuben's, the Biscuit Bus, Pinche Tacos, Steamin' Demon and the Gastro Cart.

All of them are founding members of the Justice League of Street Food. And since they took their name from the league of superheroes that includes Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman, we think the group needs an oath. So we're asking you to update this official Green Lantern Oath (as revised in the '40s) to fit street food:

In brightest day, in blackest night, No evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil's might, Beware my power, Green Lantern's light!

Post your entry in the comments below. The author of the best Justice League of Street Food oath will get a pass to sample the wares of every truck at the Saturday night bash.

We'll reveal the location of that party on Wednesday. In the meantime, check out the group's Facebook page for updates this week.

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Denver with no paywalls.
