There's action in the 2600 block of Welton Street, with a new sign suddenly appearing on the outside of the 725 Club. But as it turns out, the real action is around the corner on 26th, just past Zona's. Because after a long delay, Encores on 26th is now getting ready to open. It has a concept, it has a liquor license, and it has a space that stretches from its entrance on 26th Avenue all the way back to the storefronts along Welton.

What it doesn't have is a unique name: Since the project was first envisioned years ago, another Encore has come along, opening up last December in the Lowenstein project on Colfax. But given the high mortality rate for restaurant projects in Five points, that could be the least of Encores's problems.
