"We have seven beers on tap right now, and we'll have ten on Saturday," says Colby Rankin, who owns Denver Pearl with his father, Randy.

The 4,500-square-foot brewery is located inside a former antique cash-register store. It is set in a mostly residential area along with a few other businesses, and features a well-designed "rustic-industrial interior," a small garage-door-styled patio and a ten-barrel brewing system in the back that should keep the brewery well stocked.And they'll need to keep it that way. "We've been slammed almost every night so far," Rankin says. "A lot of it is people who live within walking distance, in the Platt Park neighborhood. But we've also had beer enthusiasts coming from all over town."
So far, head brewer Greg Matthews, who arrived at Denver Pearl via Rock Bottom in Colorado and California and AleSmith before that, has brewed up a pale ale, a rye IPA, an amber, an American wheat, a Vienna style lager, a wheat infused with mango and a chocolate milk stout on nitro. This weekend he'll tap a stout aged for a month in bourbon barrels and a collaboration, Cherry Royale, done with Front Range Brewing.
The following week, Denver Pearl will tap a tart Berlinerweisse that Matthews describes as "lemonade for adults." It will be served with traditional raspberry syrup.
