A new sushi den has opened in Lakewood, and with its extensive sushi menu, full liquor license and elegant decor, it's a welcome addition to the westside food scene. Kazoku Sushi, located at 10665 West Colfax Avenue, quietly took the plunge at the end of September. And depending on how business goes, says Kevin Chen, speaking for owner Eric Xu, Kazoku might soon host a grand-opening party to introduce itself to the neighborhood. In the meantime, we stopped in to take this photographs of the new spot.

Once the restaurant is fully launched, Kazoku will be open from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and noon to 9:30 p.m. Sundays.

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
