The T-Wa Inn, Denver's first Vietnamese restaurant, closed earlier this year on Federal Boulevard, leaving a building with good bones for a new owner to take over. Given the demographic of the area, another Vietnamese eatery would not have been a surprise, but instead Mariscos El Licenciado -- which started as a Mexican seafood truck -- took over the space at the end of summer, initially continuing to serve from the truck in the parking lot while the owners remodeled the interior. After a few weekends of soft openings, the restaurant officially opened seven days a week at the beginning of the month. Photographer Danielle Lirette snapped a few photos of the maritime-themed dining room and Pacific coastal cuisine.

Mariscos el Licenciado specializes in ceviches, seafood cocktails, whole fried fish, soups and other specialties from Mexico's west-coast state of Sinaloa. There's also a full bar with an impressive array of tequilas and live music on weekends.

Mariscos el Licenciado is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, staying open until 11 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
