The Burning CAN Beer Fest goes down today from 4 to 7 p.m. at Oskar Blues, 303 Main Street Lyons. The festival features samples from over thirty canning craft breweries, outdoor sports, music and food; the festival also coincides with a BMX dirt-jumping competition. The Belmar Farmers' Market opens for its eleventh season today. Look for the market at Wadsworth Boulevard and Alaska Drive at Belmar in Lakewood from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Sunday through August; visit the website for more details.
Colorado Wine Week starts today and runs through Saturday, June 8. Today's kickoff event takes place at The Universal, 2911 West 38th Avenue, and features live music from a local DJ, wine from the Bonacquisti Wine Co. and food from The Universal, Slotted Spoon, Black Pearl and Highland Tap & Burger. The event, which runs from 7 to 10 p.m., is limited to 100 attendees and costs $15; check the website for the rest of the schedule.
Ten of the country's top bartenders (including James Vickers of Williams & Graham) will compete in the national finals of the first-ever Punch Kings Competition, sponsored by Cochon 555 and Breckenridge Distillery starting at 5 p.m. at Ace, 501 East 17th Avenue. Executive chef Brandon Biederman and his Ace team are hosting the event, which includes $5.55 food and cocktail specials, and a ping-pong tournament following the Punch Kings Competition.
