Already rolled out is a Wednesday night dollar taco night, which nets diners as many tacos as they want for a dollar a pop. "We did it at the end of April thinking that at end of the month, people would out of money," Dina explains. "It was wildly successful, so we thought, why not do it weekly? It's been a lot of fun."
The Bertas plan to offer that special through the summer, not least because it's a good complement to the rest of the menu. "The other stuff is oven-baked and heartier," says Dina. "This is good for the warmer weather."
The Bertas also expanded their Sunday hours for the warm months, and Frank's is now open from noon until 7 p.m. to woo in patrons for dinner. And they may soon unveil a special that day, too: "We might do Kobe beef sliders on Sundays," says Dina.
And finally, the couple has a deck in the works, which Dina says should be done sometime in June, giving Frank's more outdoor seating. When that's done, the Bertas may actually do something special to celebrate the first anniversary of their spot.
But simply surviving a year in the restaurant business can sometimes be celebration enough.
