Support the independent voice of Denver and help keep the future of Westword free.

From 5 - 10 p.m., Friday, July 3, the Infinite Monkey Theorem Urban Winery, 931 West Fifth Avenue, is participating in the Golden Triangle's First Friday Art Walk by hosting "Art Under the Influence," a grape stomp in the courtyard that includes wines by the glass, great grub from Masterpiece Deli and a DJ.

Hang out, get lubed, dance your butt off and then head over to the Whole Foods Market at 870 South Colorado Boulevard to watch the City of Glendale's fireworks display from the market's parking lot, where there will also be live music (including several Westword Best of Denver bands) games and face painting for the kids and a grilling party with brats, veggie burgers, cheeseburgers, plus salads, desserts and drinks. Reservations aren't necessary, but getting there early wouldn't be a bad idea.

On Sunday, July 5, the Warwick Hotel and Randolph's Restaurant, 1776 Grant Street, is hosting a rooftop poolside barbecue from noon to 3 p.m. There's an $8 cover charge for pool access and you can order from an a la carte menu, which includes your usual suspect barbecue fare -- burgers, hot dogs, chicken, sides and salads -- plus firecracker Bloody Marys. For more info, call 303-318-7272.

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Denver with no paywalls.
