The only thing better than noshing on food from sixteen of Denver's top chefs is doing it in support of a great cause, and today is your chance to do just that.

The 33rd annual Great Chefs of the West Gala, benefiting the National Kidney Foundation, will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Denver Marriott Tech Center, where sixteen of Colorado's most notable chefs will provide samples of their signature dishes. The list of participating restaurants reads like a who's who of the Denver dining scene, and includes Bar Dough, ChoLon, City, O'City, Fruition, Mercantile Dining & Provision, Oceanaire Seafood Room, Old Major, Osaka Ramen, The Rib House, Root Down, Second Home, WaterCourse Foods and more. The chefs will compete for best dish honors as attendees enjoy live music and live and silent auctions. Of course, a gala just wouldn't be complete without a liberal amount of libations, and each of the chef's dishes will be paired with wine; there will also be specialty cocktails, as well as beer from Avery Brewing and coffee from Copper Door Coffee.

Tickets to the gala are $200 and can be purchased here. Even if you can't make the event, you can still make a donation at kidney.org

Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
