Word came yesterday that inspections are finished and the bar is stocked -- Green Russell, a subterranean spot at 1422 Larimer Street, will open to the public tonight at 6 p.m.

The bar is the latest from Frank Bonanno, the man behind Luca d'Italia, Bones, Osteria Marco, Mizuna and the forthcoming Lou's Food Bar. At Green Russell, Bonanno partnered with Adam Hodak, who is the beverage director for his growing gaggle of eateries, to create a cocktail joint inspired by speakeasies like New York City's Milk & Honey.

The partners aren't keeping they're spot secret, though: they're just adamant about running a classy spot with good cocktails and good snacks to seated patrons. No standing is allowed, but luckily, the bar takes reservations.

Green Russell is accessed through a downstairs door that also opens to Wednesday's Pie, the counter that serves as a front for the drinking operation. That counter opens next Wednesday, and, as its name implies, will only be open on Wednesdays.
