What's better than a friendly gathering over wine and cheese? Maybe one that features live jazz, too, in sumptuous surroundings. And what about if the cheese is something you made yourself?

The Living Room is hosting a free wine tasting tonight with jazzy house music from 6 to 9 p.m. But you'll want to get there when doors open at 4 p.m., because happy hour runs until 7 p.m. with $3 wells, $3 selected drafts, $5 martinis and half-price tapas. Bring your friends, because groups of ten or more at the tasting receive a complimentary bottle of wine.

You can learn to make your own cheese tonight at Wine & Whey, 3559 Larimer Street, where owner Pamela Zorn will offer one of her popular, thirty-minute Mozzarella class. The lesson begins at 7:30 p.m., and students will not only find out how to create fresh mozz, but will create their own batch. Tuition is $35 per person and includes mozzarella balls and recipes to take home; make reservations online.

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Denver with no paywalls.
