A Japanese/French fusion restaurant is going into the one-time nine75 spot in the Beauvallon building. Lawrence Yee, former front-of-the-house man at Jing, plans to open Japoix at 975 Lincoln Street in mid-August. While the Beauvallon building, which is still swathed in scaffolding, has seemed jinxed, one former tenant is optimistic about Yee's venture. "I think it's a challenging spot, but at the same time I like it," says TAG chef Troy Guard, who helmed nine75 for a time. "Anyone who has a good business plan will be able to be very, very successful."
Guard, whose eponymous restaurant is in Larimer Square, acknowledges that "there's always challenges to any space." At the Beauvallon, one of those challenges is parking. "It's all how you plan it out and how you make it work for you," Guard says. "I'm excited to try it out."
Guard left nine75 several years ago. The restaurant closed for good last fall.

Cafe Society has been following the Beauvallon's fortunes closely. Recently, it lost Aviano Coffee which is relocating to Cherry Creek right by another former Beauvallon tenant, Brandon's.
