The latest link in the Panera Bread chain opens in the Denver West development today at 14740 West Colfax Avenue. Beginning at 6 a.m., the bakery will offer the first 1,000 customers inside the cafe a free Cinnamon Crunch Bagel and a free Panera Bread Coffee Tumbler -- with free refills all month. The first 500 customers at the drive-thru will also receive a free Cinnamon Crunch Bagel.

The company is also donating $45,000 to the Food Bank of the Rockies today; call 303-974-6500 for more information.

And Colorado-based Larkburger, which just opened its tenth location in downtown Denver on December 1, is opening an eleventh today in Broomfield. No cinnamon crunch bagels, but the same menu featured at the other Larkburgers, including the burger perfected by founder Thomas Salamunovich.

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
