Chefs and restaurateurs finally took a breather at the beginning of 2020, launching far fewer new projects in January than was the monthly average for 2019. But quality prevailed over quantity, with a new winery called Attimo creating wines in Italy and blending, aging and bottling them here in Denver; a re-remodeled Campus Lounge that captures the spirit of the old Washington Park favorite while updating the menu and drinks list (but not too much); and a new Italian eatery, Restaurant Olivia, taking the place of Cafe Marmotte near Washington Park West.

Burgers lost the battle in January, with Oskar Blues spin-off Chuburger going dark on Larimer Street and American Grind grinding to a halt on South Pennsylvania Avenue. The restaurant had previously posted a note stating that it was temporarily closed for repairs, but the closing became permanent after American Grind found a newer — and presumably cheaper — home inside cocktail bar American Bonded at 2706 Larimer Street.
