Support the independent voice of Denver and help keep the future of Westword free.
Two weeks ago, we made the sad discovery on a sweltering Monday that Moon Time, Westword's regular watering hole at 846 Broadway, was closed -- reportedly for HVAC work. And the job must not be going too well, because a sign still on the door today notes that Moon Time will be closed Saturday, August 2, for another HVAC project.
More telling is a second note posted to the side of the door, announcing that Moon Time has "temporary limited hours," and is now only open from 4 p.m. - 2 a.m. Wednesday-Saturday. We'll be waiting with bated breath for the appointed hour Wednesday, to see if we can grab a seat at Moon Time's bar -- or once again must wander the neighborhood in search of a replacement for the Westword rumpus room.
Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Denver with no paywalls.
