Although Japoix has closed, leaving a black hole of a space that also swallowed up Nine75, there are new signs of life in the Beauvallon building -- and, in fact, all along the 1000 block of Lincoln Street. DiFranco's, an Italian deli, opened in the Beauvallon in May; it was soon joined by another Italian joint, Attivo Pizza & Subs (which moved from its longtime home on Ninth Avenue) and a coffee shop, Drip.

And the action continues across the street. Satori nightclub will open next week in the former home of Rockstar lounge, at 940 Lincoln Street.

Up at 988 Lincoln, a sign over the space that once held the original Spicy Pickle promises that Drew's Deli is coming soon. Also coming soon is DJ's 9th Ave. Cafe, which is slated to open just across Ninth Avenue. It's a sibling of DJ's Berkley Cafe.

That's a lot of life suddenly joining such neighborhood stalwarts as Opal and Dazzle.
