Bright and early this morning, Jonathan "Beer Man" Shikes, announced that Renegade Publik House, a new beer joint from the clan behind Renegade Brewing, was opening later this afternoon, a textbook's toss from the University of Denver. And judging from the crush at 3 p.m., when the doors opened, word travels faster than the speed of suds, because there wasn't an empty seat in the house -- not one. Clearly, the students at DU have no homework, unless they're writing a thesis on the attributes if Renegade's beer, which is some of the best in Colorado.
The beer listacle, which includes 25 craft brews on tap and another 21 in cans and bottles, is complemented by a board of grilled pizzas and a "chef's" selection of cheeses, meats and olives, and just about every table was dually drinking and eating -- but mostly drinking.
Here's a first look at the space, the beers, the beer list, the peeps drinking beers and the thin-crusted pies.
