Support the independent voice of Denver and help keep the future of Westword free.
Last week we told you about the Nature's Place People's Choice contest to choose the greenest restaurant in Colorado, as well as 23 other states. Well, the votes have been counted, and while WaterCourse Foods and The Kitchen in Boulder both were among Colorado's finalists, the Ploughboy in tiny Salida won the the prize.

"We're absolutely shocked," says Samantha Montgomery, Ploughboy's marketing manager. "Our town is only 5,300 people and we beat out Denver and Boulder, which is huge."
Ploughboy makes an effort to be as "sustainable as possible," and uses almost 100 percent Colorado-grown or Colorado-manufactured products at the combination restaurant/market that opened in 2010.
