At 12:01 on May 1, Colorado's Civil Unions Act took effect. And to commemorate the new law,Racines is offering same-sex couples celebrating their new legal status a complimentary 187 ml bottle of Korbel California Brut Champagne to share during lunch or dinner...or breakfast, if you're so inclined. And since the Webb building started doing civil ceremonies at 12:01, there could be some takers this morning.

The offer runs through May. Couples must let their server know that they're celebrating the new law in order to partake; call 303-595-0418 for more details.

And with any luck and a lot of love, these relationships will last as long as Racines: The restaurant will mark its thirtieth anniversary in December.

Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
