Denver gained many liquid assets in 2011, and although Williams & Graham ran away with our Best New Bar award in the Best of Denver 2012, the city gained many more worthy watering holes last year, as shown by our list of Denver's ten best new bars.

Even if regulars at some of those bars aren't particularly good-looking, notes one commenter. And in the case of the Matchbox (shown above), they may sport wispy moustaches.

Don't worry about what patrons look like at the start of the night, advises eCurmudgeon:

Actually, all of those bars have good-looking patrons; you just need to order enough drinks first.

What was the best bar to start pouring last year? Post your favorites in the comments section below; see our list of the ten best new bars here.

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Denver with no paywalls.
