A little over a year after it left LoDo -- and after a very long week in which its liquor license got caught in a state snafu -- the Squeaky Bean finally opened in its new, much larger home last week.

Says Mick: Looking forward to checking them out at the new location. I rode my bike up to their old place last year and had just one app and a cocktail, which was still one of my most memorable dining experiences in 2 years of living here. They do it right.

Some industry folks have carped about our coverage of the Squeaky Bean -- but has there been a bigger restaurant opening in 2012? Share your thoughts below. And watch for our Restaurant roll call for June, a compendium of openings and closing over the past month, which will be posted here this morning.

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Denver with no paywalls.
