On Wednesday nights, Aix (our Best Taste of Provence) is now offering 'Rebel or Submit' dinners in addition to its regular menu. The rules are relatively simple: If you Rebel, you choose your meal; if you Submit, Aix chooses your meal. With the Rebel option, you get a number of salad, side and entree options. Submit, and the kitchen will bring out a four-course dinner that changes every week.

Whether you Rebel or Submit, your meal costs $27 -- and for another $13, you can have the same fun with the beverage menu.

This new promotion is the creation of chef de cuisine Johnny DePierro and cook Kevin Fread, and part of the continual evolution of Aix, the French bistro at 719 East 17th Avenue that's recently added brunch, a new bistro menu and an extended happy hour.

"Rebel or Submit" sounds like a fantastic idea, but I'd advise you stay true to the spirit of Anthony Bourdain, and always submit to the chef! Let the kitchen get creative; good things usually happen. -- Tyler Nemkov
