Support the independent voice of Denver and help keep the future of Westword free.
The dog days of summer are here, and barking all about that is dogmatches.com, a Boulder-based website that's currently holding a Best Doggone Restaurant Competition to determine which restaurants, bars and java joints in Denver and Boulder are Fido-friendly. You can cast your vote on things like: Which restaurant has the best food (for humans, not canines)? Who has the friendliest staff? Which restaurant has the cleanest environment? And most important, what places treat your pooch like a prince? There is no category, however, for judging the top fire hydrant, bush, weed, leg or tree.
A few of the restaurants, watering holes and cafes on which you can vote, include: Lancer Lounge (hooch for your pooch...maybe), Earl's, Hard Rock Cafe, Steve's Snappin' Dogs, SAME Cafe, Wash Perk Coffee House, Lucile's Creole Cafe and Lovely Confections Bakery.
What other dog-worthy patios in Denver make your tail wag?
Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Denver with no paywalls.
