Sweet Action Ice Cream is one of the country's best, says SmarterTravel.com

First, Sweet Action Ice Cream expanded its availability locally, and now the progressive ice creamery at 52 Broadway is gaining recognition outside of Colorado for its homemade, organic and seasonally-influenced scoops, including flavors like Colorado peach.

The travel website, SmarterTravel.com gave the shop some national exposure over the weekend, in honor of National Ice Cream Day, by recognizing it as one of the country's best ice cream shops.

"We're super excited about it," says Sweet Action co-owner Sam Kopicko, who heard about the accolades through a friend.

Here's what the site, which included Sweet Action in a "Local/Sustainable/Organic" category, had to say:

Sweet Action in Denver makes its superpremium ice cream with local dairy and seasonal ingredients to create decadent flavors such as strawberry black pepper, cherry chocolate chip, and mascarpone blackberry. To boot, your scoop has a smaller-than-average environmental footprint: The shop is 100 percent wind powered and uses compostable packaging.
