Sims says the upgrades were needed to bring the Speer neighborhood location up to par with the newer Lime at the Denver Pavilions downtown. An added front deck, which will soon have a removable plastic enclosure, and multiple new windows give the space an open-air, hacienda feel. The bar has been relocated and expanded; part of it connects with the front deck for indoor-outdoor service, while the entire length is topped with shelves holding what one server describes as the largest selection of tequilas in the state. (I didn't count, but it's certainly a contender.)Sims considers his cantina a neighborhood complement to Angelo's Taverna down the street; an expanded Lime menu makes it the same kind of place -- where guests can stop in for beers and appetizers or stay for a full meal. You'll still find favorites like the shrimp and jalapeño scorpions and the sweet corn tamales, but a few extra starters have been added to make happy hour -- served from 3 to 6 p.m. -- just a little happier. And of course, Lime is still offering dollar tacos every Tuesday, starting at 11 a.m. Oh, those accustomed to entering from the east-side parking lot take note: the new main entrance is on the front of the building on the 6th Avenue side.
