Because once you've stopped in Thai Lotus, you won't make the mistake of overlooking it again.
It was quiet on a recent weekday when we dropped by for lunch; one woman waited for takeout, and we had our pick of seats in the small dining area. But it was a good thing we arrived just after 11 a.m., because by the time our meal arrived, the restaurant was full of cubicle warriors seeking a slice of exotic Asia on their lunch break.
The Madras curry and vegetable dish featured stir-fried mixed vegetables and mung-bean noodles with cubes of perfectly fried tofu. The medium spice level was enough to leave a lingering heat on our lips, and the spices in the dish were beautifully balanced; atop a bed of white rice, it was truly a meal fit for royalty.
The eggplant-and-basil dish featured eggplant with basil, bell peppers and white-bean sauce; the Asian eggplant was light and chewy, and the basil provided a savory counterpoint. We've loved everything we've tried at Thai Lotus, and the kitchen has a long list of items that are (or can be ordered) vegetarian and vegan. It's definitely worth a trip to the DTC just to try this take on Thai cuisine.
Thai Lotus is open Monday through Saturday for lunch and daily for dinner; visit www.thailotus.co.cc or call 720-529-8155 for more information.
