The Great American Beer Festival, coming to town September 29 through October 1, is sold out -- completely. But that doesn't mean you can't find plenty of beer geekery all over town. One of the first big warm-ups will be the Great COntenders, taking place from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 24, at the Wynkoop Brewing Company. Now in its second year, the Great COntenders aims to celebrate some 2010 winners and give a proper send-off to many of the beers entered into this year's GABF competition; after all, they will be representing Colorado on their home turf and battling for our state's sudsy pride.

The event, a fundraiser for the Colorado Brewers Guild, will feature more than fifty beers from more than twenty breweries around the state.

Tickets are $25 ($30 at the door), and if you buy them online at www.wynkoop.com, you'll be automatically entered into a drawing for a pair of tickets to GABF.

For our rundown of the ten best ways to celebrate the Great American Beer Festival even if you don't have tickets, and plenty of other GABF coverage, go to http://blogs.westword.com/cafesociety/beer_man.
