Hey, parents: Are you already hearing that dreaded summer chorus, "I'm bo-o-o-ored!" No need to put up with whining any longer: The City of Aurora is offering a kids' cooking class, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. today. Open to kids ages six to twelve, it costs $24 for Aurora residents and $31 for the general public, and will be held at the Expo Recreation Center, 10955 East Exposition Avenue in Aurora. For details, call 303-326-8360.

If you don't have kids -- or just want to get in on some summer learning yourself -- then check out the Seasoned Chef Cooking School, 999 Jasmine Street, which is offering a Beat-the-Heat Summer Meals cooking class from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuition is $65; call 303-377-3222 or go to www.theseasonedchef.com for details.

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Denver with no paywalls.
