The locavore movement is all about enjoying local produce at the peak of freshness -- and tonight, you can get a taste of this growing movement at the City of Aurora's Rocky Mountain Locavore Wine Dinner. On the menu: stir-fried quinoa with Chinese sausage, braised winter greens, pork green chile and winter squash stew, sunflower whole-wheat rolls and spiced apple compote with vanilla ice cream; they're all served with Colorado wines. Dinner runs from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Expo Recreation Center, 10955 East Exposition Avenue in Aurora. Admission is $49 for Aurora residents and $64 for the general public; call 303-326-8630 or go to www.auroragov.org/recreation for more information.

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Denver with no paywalls.
