The always-popular Winter Brew Fest kicks off tonight at Mile High Station, 2027 West Colfax Avenue, with more than 28 craft breweries serving over 75 beers. The fun runs from 6 to 10 p.m. and costs $30 to $35 (it's a benefit Swallow Hill Music Association); for more info, go to www.denverbrewfest.com.

There's more beer in Boulder, where the Avery Tap Room, 5757 Arapahoe Avenue, Unit B1, will host a Margarete Barrel-Aged Cherry Stout Release party starting at 6 p.m. For details, call 303-440-4324 or go to www.averybrewing.com.

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
