Twenty Tastiest Events on Denver's Culinary Calendar for June 3-5

After a short work week, this weekend is long on fun and crammed with culinary events — from free doughnuts to farmers' markets to special dinners. Keep reading for all the tasty details.

Friday, June 3 

In celebration of National Donut Day, Dunkin' Donuts locations around Denver will be offering a free donut of your choice with any beverage purchase. The offer is good all day long. Contact your nearest Dunkin' Donuts for more information.  Meanwhile, Einstein Bros. Bagels is celebrating National Donut Day by handing out free bagels. You can enjoy a complimentary family pack of bagels from 9 to noon (while supplies last) just by ordering through the chain's UberEATS app. The delivery will feature six of Einstein’s Twist N’ Dip bagels with two signature shmears. LUPEC (Ladies United for the Preservation of Endangered Cocktails) will host the Amazing Traveling Silent Auction to benefit the Prom Dress Exchange every Friday through June at a different Denver location. Today it will make a stop from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mell’s Cheese in Highland, where participants can get a passport. The Lobby is teaming up with Breckenridge Brewery to present its third annual Crawfish Boil today, from 6 to 9 p.m. This year's boil will feature fresh crawfish flown in from Louisiana, along with mussels, clams, shrimp and all the fixin's. There will also be a DJ, plenty of brews, a drunken coloring book contest and more. A $40 ticket nets all you can eat, three beers and coloring materials; purchase yours here.  

Chef-driven cutlery purveyor Coutelier will have a pop-up shop at the Source from 5 to 9 p.m. today, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and on Sunday during the Slow Food Farmers' Market from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. New Orleans-based Coutelier will be selling hand-forged Japanese, French and American knives, perfect for professional chefs and serious home cooks alike. Today and tomorrow, Mizuna will celebrate fifteen years serving Denver, by offering a special five-course dinner with wine pairings. The birthday menu is set at $200 per person. You can make reservations — which are required — and learn more by calling the restaurant at 303-832-4778.

Saturday, June 4 

The Union Station Farmers' Market — a partnership between Denver Union Station and the award-winning Boulder County Farmers' Market — brings locally grown produce, locally produced food products and more to downtown Denver starting today. The first market will feature vegetable tastings, Market Bucks giveaways and a chef demo by Chef Peter Varkonyi of Beast + Bottle. The seventh annual Burning Can Beerfest will bring fifty breweries to Bohn Park in Lyons today. Uncorked Kitchen's 21 for Everyone wine-tasting series continues today with a focus on the wines of South America. The educational tasting will highlight 21 wines from Chile, Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay. Tickets to the event, which runs from 4 to 6 p.m., are $36; get yours and learn more here.

Chef Jorel Pierce will once again lead a Stoic & Genuine School of Fish cooking class from 10 a.m. to noon today.  This month's class will focus on soft-shell crabs and Maryland stripers. During the two-hour class, you’ll learn the history, economic importance and cooking techniques that apply to both of the class's subjects, and you'll get to enjoy lunch. TheBigWonderful is popping up in Aurora at the Stanley Marketplace today from noon to 8 p.m. The event will feature the usual fun, food, music and shopping you've come to expect from TBW, all in a new setting. Tickets are $5 for general admission and $15 for VIP; grab yours here.

The charitable Confluence Tap Handle is moving to its new home at Los Tacos today, and the restaurant is celebrating with a launch party at 6 p.m. During its stay, the Confluence Tap will be pouring Renegade Brewing Company's Redacted Rye IPA, and $1 from every pint sold will go to A Precious Child to support its work with disadvantaged and displaced children and families in Colorado. Tamayo wants to get Denver pedaling for the restaurant's Bike2Brunch deals. From 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on the first Saturday of each month, you will receive complimentary guacamole for the table, as well as a 20 percent discount at Timbuk2 across the street, just for riding your bike to brunch. The 45th annual People's Fair, an event put on by Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods (CHUN), will take over Civic Center Park today and tomorrow. This year, the Fair will feature more than eighty Colorado-based bands and performance groups, 85 artists and more than 50 local craft beers. The Slow Food Farmers' Market once again pops up at The Source from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today. The weekly market features interactive and educational programming, culinary and cocktail-making demonstrations, guest vendors and in-store special events within the Source’s retailers. This week the market will also be the scene for the debut of City Pretzel, a new concept from Rosenberg’s Bagels & Delicatessen owner Joshua Pollack, which will bring East Coast pretzel culture to Denver via an electric tuk tuk. Luca encourages you to Eat (Red) to help fight HIV in newborns, tonight during the restaurant's charity dinner. Denver has a new food market: FOODIES Festival Market will kick off its inaugural season at 9 a.m. today at the new Belleview Station. The market will feature a variety of food and food products, live music, a dining tent with community tables, craft beer and wine, fine art and crafts, family activities and more. Best of all, you'll be giving back to the community while you shop; each week the market will work with a local nonprofit partner and will donate a portion of daily sales.
