Water for People sprang to life from the Denver-based American Water Works Association in 1991, with the simple idea that access to safe drinking water and effective sanitation are basic human rights that no person should live without. According to the international nonprofit, today 1.8 billion people around the world don't have access to safe drinking water and 2.4 billion lack access to adequate sanitation; 840,000 people die each year from water-related diseases. To combat those statistics, Water for People works in nine countries across Africa, Asia and the Americas, helping to provide sustainable, long-lasting solutions for 4 million people in communities struggling to access clean water and sanitation.

Now the nonprofit is celebrating 25 years of fighting the good fight with a party at Mile High Station from 5:30 to 10 p.m. For the event, Epicurean Catering has crafted a special globally inspired, low-water-usage menu, which will be served alongside cocktails from Kevin Burke of Colt & Gray and Ste. Ellie, local beers and more. There will also be a silent auction, a pop-up boutique and live music for dancing. Tickets are $125 or $250 for VIP, which will get you an extra hour of food and drinks.
