Original post: On Sunday, EatDenver, the city's network of independently-owned restaurants, is hosting the Big Eat, a blowout culinary bash at Sustainability Park, 2500 Lawrence Street. The eco-friendly festival, which sold out last year, struts forty restaurants, four breweries, four wineries, plus local spirits and cocktails. "It's a fun-filled, American-themed event, and each restaurant brings a signature dish and excitement, plus there's unique entertainment and custom libations using some of the state's best local ingredients," says Elizabeth Woessner, executive director of EatDenver.
The festivities begin at 2 p.m., and tickets are $40 each, which includes food samples and two drink tickets, and while we encourage you to snap them up sooner rather than later, we're also giving away two free admissions to the event.
And to give you a taste of who's cooking, here are the participating restaurants, all of which are EatDenver members: ACE Eat Serve, Appaloosa Grill, Barolo Grill, Biker Jim's, Double Daughters Salotto, Euclid Hall, Russell's Smokehouse, Happy Cakes Bakeshop, Ignite,, Jonesy's Eat Bar, Le Grand Bistro & Oyster Bar, Linger, Panzano, Pinche Tacos, Punch Bowl Social, Rialto Cafe, Root Down, Row 14, Second Home Kitchen + Bar, Snooze, Steuben's, Steve's Snappin' Dogs, Stoney's, the Corner Office, the Lobby, Trillium, Vesper Lounge, Vesta Dipping Grill, Vine Street Pub, Breckenridge Brewery, Great Divide, Mountain Sun Brewery and Wynkoop Brewery.
Cocktails from CapRock Vodka, Breckenridge Bourbon Whiskey, Dancing Pines Rum and Jackalope Gin, along with wines from Bookcliff Cellars, Bonacquisti Winery, Cottonwood Cellars, Mesa Park and Two Rivers are also part of the lineup.
Want to win? Here's the question you'll need to answer: How many people attended the Big Eat last year? The Cafe Society commenter who comes the closest to the actual number without going over, will win the tickets. In order to play, please leave your best guess, your name and a valid e-mail address (if we don't have an e-mail address, you can't win) in the comments section below. We'll announce the winner on Friday, no later than 5 p.m.
