Original post: For beer geeks, the Great American Beer Festival is arguably the best week of the year, with restaurants and bars in Denver, Boulder and Fort Collins hosting numerous suds-centric events. And one of those events will be held at Central Bistro and Bar, Lance Barto's smashing new restaurant in Highland.
On Saturday, October 13, the restaurant will host Christian DeBenedetti, the author of the Great American Trail, and a 2012 recipient of the Society of American Travel Writers Foundation Lowell Thomas Contest Award -- and one Westword Cafe Society reader and a guest will get to attend the festivities, which include a four-course dinner, paired with beers, for free. In addition, the winner will strut away with a signed copy of DeBenedetti's book and a Central swag bag.
In order to win, you need to answer this question: How many copies of the Great American Ale Trail has DeBenedetti sold to date?
Submit your guesses in the comments section below, and be sure to include a name and a valid e-mail address so we can reach you if you win. The person who comes the closest to the actual number without going over will walk away with the prize, and we'll announce who that is on Friday.
And if you'd rather buy tickets, you can do that, too, by calling 303-477-4582. Tickets are $55 each, excluding tax and gratuity. But you might as well try to win them here first.
