And on Wednesday, October 5, Symensma and his staff will celebrate the food temple's one-year milestone with a blowout dinner trumpeting a multi-course feast created by several Colorado chefs, including Kelly Liken (Restaurant Kelly Liken); Alex Seidel (Fruition); Justin Brunson (Wild Catch and Masterpiece Deli); Scott and Deanna Parker (Table 6); Mark DeNittis (Il Mondo Vecchio); Hosea Rosenberg (season 5 Top Chef victor); and Jeff Osaka (twelve) -- but first, Symensma is teaming up with Seidel and season 4 Top Chef winner and Chicago-based chef Stephanie Izard for a four-course, family-style craft beer- and food-pairing dinner at ChoLon on Thursday, September 29, which just happens to coincide with the Great American Beer Festival.
"Stephanie is a good friend of mine, and she's embarking on a thirteen-city book tour. Lucky for us, Denver is her first stop, so we're putting together an amazing food-and-beer dinner with her and Alex that will highlight Stephanie's own special brew -- a honey porter -- a beer from Alex, and two more beers, including a dessert beer and one that I'm keeping secret," says Symensma.
Each chef is creating four dishes, all of which will be paired with a beer or beer cocktails, and one fortunate Cafe Society reader will snatch two seats at the dinner, which would otherwise cost $120 plus tax and gratuity. (A percentage of proceeds will go to Share Our Strength.)
