August Showers Couldn't Dampen the Taste of Highlands

Even a downpour and lightning storm couldn't stop the crowds from piling into the tents of the fourth annual Taste of Highlands on Thursday night in Highlands Square. As Pizzeria Locale saved its giant pot of delicious meatballs from the rain and the Regional rescued its buttermilk biscuits, people of all ages nibbled on goods from twelve different neighborhood joints and sipped beer made by the nearby Hogshead Brewery. Unfortunately the weather put a damper on a lively set by the Delta Sonics, but once things dried up they were back and raring to go. Around 600 people made their way outdoors to this little peek into the vast offerings found in shops all over the North Denver neighborhood. Little Man Ice Cream dished out festive flavors like Space Junkie and Salted Oreo, and to sweeten the event even more, proceeds from the event benefited Project Angel Heart, a charity that delivers nutritious meals to those coping with life-threatening illness.
