"Nothing about this place was designed to be second-rate," observes Gretchen Kurtz in her review of Fire
, in the Art Hotel on Broadway. Both the hotel and the restaurant are filled with art, much of it by internationally known artists. At Fire, chef Chris Jakubiec has a knack for turning simple dishes into distinctive ones: wings spiked with Korean chile paste, a pappardelle-and-lamb plate jazzed up with pickled currants. Photographer Danielle Lirette went behind the scenes to capture those dishes and more in the elegant surroundings at Fire.
