World Refugee Day was celebrated at the State Capitol on June 20, 2017.
An estimated 65 million people around the world were displaced from their homes last year due to war, religious persecution or other horrors. To call attention to their plight, World Refugee Day is celebrated annually on June 20. As the sun shined bright, about 150 people gathered at the steps of the State Capitol today to celebrate the achievements of refugees who have resettled in this state, and to commemorate those who never made it this far.
