Denver's famed Red Rocks went purple last night, where a sold-out crowd awash in violet gathered to watch Film on the Rocks' screening of Purple Rain and listen to Colorado bands pay tribute to Prince. Featuring twelve popular acts like Flobots and Dragondeer each playing one or two Prince songs each, the pre-film concert hit a high note when one hundred members of the Denver Gay Men's Chorus assembled and performed an a cappella rendition of "Who Wants To Live Forever" by Queen. All of the musicians, including a Prince impersonator and lead vocals by Venus Cruz, returned to the stage for a lively finale performance of "Purple Rain," to which the entire crowd sang and danced along.
