This Year, Rockies Fans Will Enjoy a Stay-at-Home Opener

Each year on Opening Day, Rockies fans show up in full purple regalia to celebrate Colorado baseball. With Opening Day scheduled for Friday, April 3, Major League Baseball postponed and a stay-at-home order in effect, the Colorado Rockies will throw a Stay at Home Opener instead.

The virtual game, which will be broadcast on AT&T SportsNet and the Rockies website at 2 p.m. on April 3, will include some of the greatest innings in Rockies' Opening Day history, along with commentary from Rockies players and coaches. Sticking with tradition, there will be pre-game ceremonies, all the between-innings fun and a seventh-inning stretch. The Colorado Rockies Baseball Club Foundation will also host an online fundraiser, Feed the Rockies, benefiting food banks in Colorado and Wyoming.

Here's a look back at Rockies openers of the past, when fans packed the stands of Coors Field to root, root, root for the home team.
