Rise Up 4th of July Rally a True Declaration of Independence

The Rise Up 4th of July Rally drew hundreds to Manual High School. "On July 4, 1776, the Declaration of Independence liberated the Colonies from Great Britain," organizers announced. "However, only white wealthy men enjoyed that freedom....244 years later, African American, Women, Native Americans, LGBTX and our Latinx communities still do not enjoy that independence." The rally included violin music in honor of Elijah McClain, Native American dancers, and speakers talking about everything from immigration to incarceration to the Black Lives Matter movement.
