On May 7, 2013, The Kitchen Denver celebrated its first anniversary with a party to benefit The Kitchen Community, which builds learning gardens across the country. Learning Gardens are outdoor garden-based classrooms and play spaces where kids connect to real food and engage in hands-on learning. They cost $25,000 each, and The Kitchen has established thirty in Colorado schools to date, with fifteen more for under-served schools lined up and ready to go.
